MEASUREMENT AND CONTROL INSTRUMENTATION

 

 

PART 1 GENERAL

This specification is for a flow transmitter using the measurement principle of electromagnetic induction.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

 

2.01 GENERAL

A.      All wiring, hardware, and connection means shall be in compliance with the National Electrical Code and or applicable local codes.

B.       The system specified herein is composed of both a flowhead mounted in the pipe and a signal conditioning and transmitter module which shall be mounted remotely.

 

2.02 MOUNTING

A.      Both the flowhead and the transmitter module shall be mounted as shown in the construction drawings.

B.       Mounting guidelines shall be followed as indicated in the installation instructions as provided by the manufacturer. 

C.       The flowhead shall be grounded in strict accordance with the instructions as provided by the manufacturer.

 

2.03 EQUIPMENT

         2.03.1 Flowhead

A.      The size shall be as indicated on the construction drawings.

B.       Process connection shall be 150 lb. ANSI B16.5 RF flanges.  Wafer style connections shall not be acceptable.

C.       Materials of Construction:

a.        Measuring tube- 304 stainless steel with carbon steel flanges

b.       Measuring tube liner- Novolak

c.        Electrodes: stainless steel

d.       Grounding ring: stainless steel

D.      Measurement range shall be 0.8 to 39 ft./sec.

E.       Unit shall be able to measure fluids with a conductivity down to 3 uS/cm

F.       Maximum pressure rating shall be 285 psi

G.       Maximum temperature rating shall be 266 deg. F

H.      Electrodes shall be of the flat design

I.         Environmental rating shall be NEMA 4X

2.03.2 Signal Conditioner / Transmitter

A.       This unit shall have a 16-bit microprocessor, which evaluates the signals from the flowhead sensors, and transmit standard process signals proportional to flowrate. 

B.        Unit shall output a pulsed constant DC field to the flowhead.

C.        Unit shall have zero flow cutoff capability and internal diagnostic functions.

D.       Unit shall be mounted remotely as shown on the construction drawings.

E.        Power Required: 100 to 230V +/- 15%, 47 to 63 Hz

F.        Unit shall be capable of automatic recognition of sensor type and calibration data.

G.        Outputs shall be the following:

a.        (1) 4-20 mA with HART protocol.  Max load shall be at least 600 ohm

b.       (1) 0-10,000 Hz digital output which can be configured for active or passive signal

c.        (1) relay , configurable for NC or NO rated for 5W

All outputs shall be electrically isolated from one another and from the power supply.

H.       Accuracy shall be <= +/- 0.5% with a repeatability of 0.2%.

I.          Display shall be 2 line x 16-character backlit LCD with hierarchical menu control with alphanumeric text.

J.         Environmental rating shall be NEMA 4X.

 

2.04 MANUFACTURERS

A.      Unit shall be a Siemens Sitrans Model no. 7ME5772-1JC10-1BB0 / 7ME5033-0AA11-2AA0 or engineer approved equal.

 

 

 

PART 3 EXECUTION

 

3.01 INSTALLATION

A.      Personnel who are certified in all applicable electrical practices, standards, codes, and wiring techniques as they pertain to installing field instrumentation shall perform installation.

B.        Installers shall follow all applicable safety standards and perform work on only de-energized electrical systems.

C.       Installers shall follow manufacturers installation instructions provided with the unit.  All field wiring and grounding shall be installed in strict accordance with the manufacturer’s installation manual.
